Abstract

An epizootological analysis of the emergence and potential expansion of natural rabies foci in the Republic of Buryatia was conducted. Rabies manifests itself in cattle with pronounced clinical signs. No cases of rabies have been reported among humans. In the structure of animal diseases, the main share was 50 % in cattle, foxes 43,3 %, dogs 3,7 %, wolves and horses 1,2 % each, respectively.

Currently, in Buryatia, the epizootic process of rabies is maintained in natural foci in wild fauna among foxes, and there is a constant risk of the virus being transferred to the population of domestic and farm animals and the emergence of anthropurgic (urban) foci of rabies. In mountainous landscapes, the expansion of natural rabies foci follows a vectorial pattern, while in the steppe zone, epizootic manifestations of the infection are characterized by a fan-shaped spread of the pathogen.

The republic is conducting targeted work on improving rabies control methods using combined prevention technologies and oral vaccination of wild predators, which helps create stable conditions for epizootic and epidemic safety.

Abstract

The review article systematizes data on the etiology, pathogenesis and epizootological features of infectious enteritis of newborn calves of viral and bacterial etiology. Key pathogens were analyzed: enterotoxigenic strains of Escherichia coli, bovine rotavirus group A (BRV); bovine coronavirus (BCV); bovine diarrhea virus (BVDV). The mechanisms of adhesion, toxinogenesis, cytopathic action, and immunosuppression that cause synergism in polymicrobial associations are described. The age-related dynamics of susceptibility and the role of colostral immunity are substantiated. The need to integrate vaccine prevention with zoohygienic measures for sustainable infection control is emphasized.

This article presents the results of antigen testing of experimental vaccine samples for the prevention of avian metapneumovirus infection. The samples were produced using Vero cell culture and SPF embryos.

The use of culture-based vaccines in modern virology is considered a highly effective and widespread method for preventing infectious diseases. During the production of these biopreparations, special attention is paid to the purification of the serum proteins of the cell line used to grow the virus, thereby minimizing disease progression. Virus concentration, a crucial step in the production of highly effective vaccines, is also crucial.

Abstract

This article presents results of a study of acute toxicity of the innovative veterinary drug «Coronacat-Tab» on laboratory animals and therapeutic efficacy of the drug for infectious peritonitis of cats.

Because of the low toxicity it was not possible to determine (LD50) of the drug after single and repeated intragastric administration of the drug to white mice. However, according to GOST 12.1.007-76 the drug can be classified as a hazard class 4 substance (low-hazard substance) as its LD50 is significantly higher than 5000 mg per kilogram of body weight. Clinical tests showed that the drug is safe for cats and can be used as part of complex therapy for infectious peritonitis to continue treatment started with the injectable drug «Coronacat 30» 1–3 weeks prior to use of the drug.

Abstract

As a result of using the experimental feed probiotic, bacteriological analysis of the contents of the intestinal tract of rabbits showed that by the end of the experiment, the number of lactic acid bacteria in the animals of the experimental group was 9,4×105 CFU/g, yeast-like mushrooms – 5,0×105 CFU/g, aerobes – 7,2×105 CFU/g. According to these indicators, the rabbits of the experimental group outperformed their peers from the control group by 77,4 %, 50 % and 46,9 %, respectively. The level of enterobacteria and bifidobacteria in the intestinal tract of animals increased by 24,5 % and 20,0 %, respectively, compared with the control group, and amounted to an average of 6,6× 105 CFU/g and 2,0×106 CFU/g, which indicates the population of rabbit intestines with beneficial microbiota and improved intestinal biocenosis indicators even under conditions of artificially created stress.
